Neutral in Malayalam

Neutral, in the sense of taking neither side, is മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥ (maddhyastha). It comes from the word for middle and literally describes someone standing in between, which is why it also means mediating. Say madh-dhyas-tha.

Common questions

How do you say neutral in Malayalam?

Use മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥ (maddhyastha) for neutral or impartial, and മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥന്‍ (maddhyasthan) for a neutral person acting as mediator.

Why is ഉദാസീന (udaaseena) not the same?

Because it suggests you do not care, even that you are negligent, whereas being neutral means deliberately refusing to favour either side.
