Feast in Malayalam
സദ്യ (sadya) is what Keralites call a feast, above all the banana-leaf meal served at weddings and at Onam. Anyone invited to a celebration in Kerala hears the word long before the food arrives. The d is a soft dental sound and the first syllable is short: sad-ya.
